Visit Scotland

Playfair Steps

We had an action packed week in Elevate last week with a trip to Scotland for our new client Visit Scotland. We arrived in Edinburgh on Tuesday to rain, but that didn’t dampen our spirits as we took a walking tour to take in all that the beautiful city has to offer. We walked from Hotel Missoni, down the Playfair Steps to get to grips with the city streets, Princes Street and George Street. A walk through the city garden, was followed by a trip to the Royal Scottish Academy and the Scottish National Gallery. That evening we were lucky enough to head to Stockbridge for dinner at The Scran and Scallie; the restaurant owned by two of Scotland’s top Michelin star chefs, Tom Kitchin and Dominic Jack.

It was an early start on Wednesday morning as we took a 50 minute train to Glasgow for the Visit Scotland expo, which took place in the SECC, Scotland’s premier national venue for public events, concerts and conferences. We had the opportunity to meet with the people behind some of Scotland’s most famous tourist attractions such as Gleneagles, where the Ryder Cup takes place this year, the Edinburgh Festival, those promoting Highland tours and natural Scotland, as well as the upcoming Forth Bridge 125th anniversary and the Battle of Bannockburn. We also spent two hours in the amazing Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum after lunch in The Sisters nearby, (watch out for its chef on the Great British Menu next month)

This year as Scotland welcomes the world with Homecoming Scotland 2014, the Ryder Cup and Commonwealth Games, there is no better time to hop on a short flight and visit our nearby neighbours for some haggis, (which is delicious by the way!), whisky and to take in all that the country has to offer from food and fashion to sport and sightseeing.
