The Next Steps In A Public Relations Campaign

The first step when we begin working with a new client is to arrange an immersion session to find out all about the brand and client. We ask our client to take us on the brand journey – the brand history, previous campaigns, assets available, exciting developments coming, future gazing…

Elevate has a very clear system in place for this stage of the client / agency relationship to make things easy for everyone, and here’s how we do it:

  • Following the immersion meeting, we build the campaign scope of work, an essential document for us and the client, as it clearly sets out the work that will take place over the time-frame within an agreed budget
  • Next comes the contract in which we outline the fee, payment terms and number of hours the team will work on the campaign
  • Then, we create a running budget and fine-tune estimated costs to carry out the scope of work – these could be anything from influencer content costs to event budgets to media drop costs
  • We set out and agree what success looks like I.e. Key performance indicators. For most campaigns these include reach of media, volume, impressions, engagement, messaging, but they can also include impact such as footfall, downloads, sales, if there are trackable elements in place
  • Other documents at this stage of planning include a media angles document, where we draft opportunities and pitch angles for different clients, a target media list and influencer / KOL list, as well as separate planning documents for larger projects within the campaign, such as an event
  • Finally, we compile an asset bank for the client, which includes campaign images, head shots, biographies, prices, stockists, etc. all the information we need to get the PR machine started

Planning is very important to us at Elevate and we know it is for clients too, so the first few weeks of the beginning of a new agency / client relationship sets the scene for the months ahead.
