The Wilder Townhouse Anything But Ordinary

The Wilder Townhouse has recently opened on Dublin 2’s Harcourt Terrace after an extensive refurbishment of an iconic three story, redbrick Victorian listed building, that was originally built in 1839. Each of the 42 bedrooms are unique and sizes range from cosy Shoebox rooms up to spacious Suites. Designed with an aura of warm elegance and minimalist grandeur for the culturally curious discerning traveller. With the Wilder Townhouse’s central location only a short walk from St Stephens Green there is a plethora of amenities on guests doorsteps including; parks, shops, museums and delicious restaurants. Having all these features only a stone’s throw away, gives guests the chance to get a real feel for Dublin city. Architect Grainne Weber who worked on the redesign said ‘Keeping the character was important to us with the reuse and repurposing of fireplaces and other features whilst trying to weave the modern amenities of ensuites and airconditioning for every room through the old Victorian fabric. But we also got to use lovely stones, timbers, velvets and print wallpapers to lift what was a relatively unadorned building to one that delights the eye at every turn’.

The Shoebox bedrooms are simple and compact, they include a double bed and are ideal for short city breaks, business trips or solo excursions. Both the Small and Popular bedrooms contain a comfy King size bed, to guarantee a good night’s sleep, ideal for a long weekend away. Every bedroom in The Wilder Townhouse is fitted with marble mosaic bathrooms and has walk-in rainforest showers, with Replica by Maison Margiela Paris products. Dining in the Garden Room at The Wilder Townhouse is for residents only. Overnight stays at The Wilder Townhouse have the option to include a delicious à la carte cooked breakfast created by head chef Glen Beskhurst and an extensive cold buffet breakfast each morning consisting of Irish artisan produce served in the picturesque Garden Room or on the Terrace. The Wilder Townhouse also has an art-deco inspired bar ‘The Gin and Tea Rooms’ which contains elegant French glass lights, smoked parquet floor and velvet sofas. All of which make it the perfect spot to relax and sample a selection of Ireland’s finest bespoke craft gin.

The four stunning suites at The Wilder Townhouse are named after famous Governesses from history; the Lady Jane Suite, the Miss Wade Suite, the Miss Sharp Suite and the Lady Audley. Each suite is unique in design and layout, but they do still contain original floor-to-ceiling French-polished walnut wall panelling and marble fireplace, complement by elegant velvet furniture and a queen size bed. The living areas vary but feature vintage silk-covered ottomans, crystal chandeliers and leather wingback chairs.
