After last weekend’s 6 Nations rugby disaster the Ireland v France game has been rescheduled for 4pm on Sunday, 4th March. This means the team will have a good break before their game against Italy in the Aviva Saturday week.

Today FM had another successful Shave or Dye world record attempt with the most heads being dyed in 24 hours – It’s their 3rd successful Guinness world record attempt.

News of Whitney Houston’s death broke on Twitter in the early hours of last Sunday morning. Her funeral is being streamed online tomorrow and her co-star from The Bodyguard, Kevin Costner will speak at the service with Stevie Wonder and Aretha Franklin singing at it.

Sonia O’Sullivan will be the first person to bring the Olympic torch through Dublin with Michael Carruth and Wayne McCullough will pass the torch over the border.

Friday Round Up

Ireland take on Wales in the opening round of the RBS 6 Nations this weekend in the Aviva. Unfortunately Ireland will be missing Brian O’Driscoll and Keith Earls from the lineup but it’s still sure to be a great game. KO @ 3pm on Sunday.

Keeping with sport it’s Super Bowl weekend with the New York Giants taking on the New England Patriots, will you be staying up Sunday night to watch it? Madonna is the half time entertainment and of course there’s always the ads!

Just over a week to go to the 22nd Hennessy Gold Cup, which takes place at Leopardstown on Sunday, 12th February. Tickets cost €20 and are available online at www.leopardstown.com or can be purchased on the gate on race day. Online registrations (www.hennessybestdressed.ie) are still open for the Hennessy Best Dressed Lady in association with Design Centre with a voucher for €7,000 for the winner.

Adele announced her return to the stage this week. She will perform at the Grammy Awards on 12th February.

The launch of the Nokia Lumia 800 with Windows handset took place on Tuesday in the RHA on Ely Place. Guests included Styleisle blogger Lorna Claire Weightman, LeCool Dublin’s Michael McDermott and RTE’s Diana Bunici with entertainment from renowned human beatboxer Whitenoise. The Queens of Neon were also on hand to amuse with speech bubbles so that guest could be photographed expressing what their amazing everyday would be…here are some of our favourites!

Friday Round Up

The 84th Oscar nominations were announced during the week. There were some raised eyebrows that Michael Fassbender wasn’t nominated in the Best Actor category for his role in Shame but thankfully the Irish is represented in the Best Short Film category for Pentecost and The Shore. Lynn Johnston is also nominated in the Best Makeup category for Albert Nobbs.

Today FM launched their third ‘Shave or Dye‘ campaign this week. This is a fantastic initiative and it has raised €2.1m for the Irish Cancer Society since February 2010.

The weather in Donegal made the headlines this week. With beautiful images of the Northern Lights over North Donegal on Monday to that earthquake yesterday!

Big week ahead for Nokia Ireland with the launch of the new Nokia Lumia 800. It’s available exclusively from Vodafone stores from 1st February.

Dais II Launches in association with Moët & Chandon and Wella

Ireland’s social and fashion elite turned out in force Tuesday evening for the launch of Dais II in association with the world’s leading champagne house Moët & Chandon and hair-care brand, Wella. The Dais Project is a trilogy of films created by Irish stylist Sonya Lennon and Swiss/Irish film-maker Christian Ammann.

Sonya welcomed guests in attendance including TV personalities, Brendan Courtney, Lorraine Keane and Aisling O’Loughlin along with fashion designers, Joanne Hynes and Claire O’Connor. Also enjoying the Moët & Chandon reception were Caroline Sleiman from Moët Hennessy, make-up artist Christina Luciano, Frederique Thoummany from Chanel, Ashling Kilduff owner of Design Centre, beauty journalist Triona McCarthy and fashion photographer, Barry McCall.

The Dais II project showcases the international success of Irish fashion designers though the medium of film. Born from an original concept by Sonya Lennon, the Dais films aim to build a chronicle of the best fashion designers of our time, both established and emerging. The first Dais film, which was launched last autumn, was critically acclaimed and lauded by the design community and fashion industry in Ireland. The film received international recognition as a work of significance and beauty and was selected for the La Jolla Fashion Film Festival, in Los Angeles where it was screened alongside films by Bruce Weber and Karl Lagerfeld. Dais II is now following in its footsteps as it also has been selected for the 2012 festival.

Irish Actors Cillian Murphy and Eve Hewson among Stars at the Grey Goose Blue Door pop-up club at the Sundance Film Festival

The Sundance Film Festival launched last weekend and takes place until the end of January in Utah in the US. 2012 marks the first year that Grey Goose has been an official partner of Sundance, one of the most high profile film events in the world. To celebrate the association, Grey Goose, the world’s best tasting vodka opened the Grey Goose Blue Door on Friday, 20th January.

Over five nights the Grey Goose Blue Door pop-up club hosted a series of premiere parties for movies being screened at the festival and launched the sixth season of the acclaimed TV documentary series, Iconoclasts, produced by Grey Goose Entertainment. Guests in attendance included Ireland’s very own Cillian Murphy, whose new film Red Lights also starring Robert De Niro, Sigourney Weaver and Elizabeth Olsen was shown at the Grey Goose Blue Door. Also in attendance was Eve Hewson, daughter of Bono and Ali Hewson, who stars along Sean Penn in This Must be the Place, which also premiered at the festival.

Dirty Dancing, the musical opened in the Grand Canal Theatre last night to great reviews, we’re going to see it soon and cannot wait!
