MINT VELVET UNVEILS ITS A/W18 COLLECTION AND ITS FIRST EVER KIDSWEAR RANGE; MINTIE

Wednesday, 25^th July, 2018: Fashion lovers gathered for an exclusive breakfast event to launch MINT VELVET’s A/W18 collection, at The Dean, Dublin 2. Guests on the morning were also treated to a surprise glimpse of the brand’s first ever kidswear range; Mintie.

MINT VELVET A/W18 sees global style influences combined and layered to create unique looks that marry feminine and masculine styling. A nostalgic undertone runs throughout the season, with contrasting prints of leopard, florals and stripes taking centre-stage.

Winter floral displays of red, deep burgundy and bright pink set the scene, while a child-friendly tepee set-up played homage to the brand’s next chapter. Guests enjoyed a delicious breakfast reception of smoked salmon with cream cheese served in black sesame cones, baby potato, spinach and ricotta frittatas, fresh granola pots and delicious breakfast smoothies, whilst browsing the incoming A/W18 collection of chunky knits, hero footwear and understated staples.

MINT VELVET PR Manager, Yasu Pola-Samuels, was in stylish company with guests and fans of the brand including actress Charleigh Bailey, model Holly Carpenter, stylist Corina Gaffey and Xpose producer, Debbie O’Donnell. All guests on the day wore an item from the new MINT VELVET collection, styled individually with their own personal take on the brand’s classic relaxed glamour ethos.

The morning also unveiled a new chapter for MINT VELVET’S with its first ever kidswear range. After creating clothing for women for nine years, Mint Velvet has now taken on a new, exciting adventure, introducing Mintie. Launching this autumn, Mintie is a brand-new collection made for ‘mini-me’s. Mirroring MINT VELVET’S classic pieces and relaxed styling, Mintie is an age appropriate collection for girls aged 3-10 – think cute, stylish and modern. Pieces are easily coordinated – creating straightforward and effortless dressing. Mintie plays on colours, animal motifs, slogans and girly details for a fun yet contemporary range and is made with comfort, style and practicality in mind with easy to care for and soft to touch fabrics.

This season is evolution, not revolution.

Mint Velvet AW18 sees global style influences combined and layered to create unique looks. A nostalgic undertone runs throughout the season; however this is not pointing to any one decade, giving it a feeling of classic style and individuality.

Print mixing – whether that be florals or animal prints, asymmetric details and spliced silhouettes shows the underlying rule of juxtaposition at its best. Checks and stripes are a highlight this season, supporting a heritage feel while offering modern interpretation which has been achieved the MV way via mixing contrast trims, buttons or prints, and draped techniques which add newness to these pieces.

So how does she wear it? Combine longer length dresses and skirts with knee high pointed boots to give an adhoc direction, sense of sophistication and sex appeal. Layered dress and trouser combinations also give this feeling.

Lux soft fabrics, including AW18’s key player, satin, look exotic when paired back with heavy winter jackets or chunky knits. Belting is an essential on volume silhouettes to create emphasis on the waist for femininity.

Keeping to our signature ethos, home comfort and relaxed styling is still a key message with oversized knits and soft rounded shapes to ensure indulgent coziness for the winter months.
