Mint Velvet Unveils Its Aw17 Collection At Secret Dublin Location

Last Thursday, 29th June, fashion hungry guests braved the rain to gather at a secret location on John Dillon Street, Dublin 8, for an exclusive preview of MINT VELVET’s Autumn/Winter 2017 collection. The unique venue exuded streamlined style, with exposed concrete walls, white marble floors and dark wood detailing serving as the perfect backdrop for MINT VELVET’s chic yet understated new collection.

Guests enjoyed a champagne reception, followed by wine and tapas as they browsed the A/W17 collection. MINT VELVET’s Senior PR Coordinator Yasu Pola-Samuels was in good company with TV3 presenter Anna Daly, stylists Corina Gaffey and Lorna Weightman, and top bloggers Leanne Woodfull and Sarah Hanrahan, being among a few of the stylish guests.

Damn Fine Print were on hand live screen printing tea towels with iconic patterns from the new collection, while guests relaxed in the cosy setting that featured luxurious new Hygge lifestyle products, including three wick candles, soft knit cushions and thick knitted throws.

This season MINT VELVET draws inspiration from effortless Parisian style, combining boyfriend-dressing with the brand’s signature softer, feminine elements. It is all about confidence this season – longline silhouettes, with blazer and wide-leg trouser combos in structured and relaxed fabrics, are reminiscent of the 90s power-suit.

MINT VELVET gives modern sportswear a new spin this season, pairing suits with trainers. Simply swap the trainers with a pair of kitten heels, and add a neckerchief and a clutch for a sexy grown up look.

Lace high necks with ruffled sleeves and cuffs portray historical references, while contrast bow ties and a modern colour palette provide a contemporary twist. Layering styles is not shied away from, with fabrics in black, khaki and ivory showing elements of the military trend.  This look works just as well with MINT VELVET’s infamous leather bikers or parka jacket.

An oversized, keep-forever knit, teamed with a floatier floral and painterly fabric and a pair of over the knee boots, is the embodiment of cosy boho dressing and screams ultimate elegance.

For the brave and bold, tonal dressing is the ultimate statement. MINT VELVET does this trend best with merlot on merlot, red on red and teal on teal.

MINT VELVET always puts functionality at the forefront – everything can be worn with jeans, including dresses. Layering a polo neck under lighter fabrics, or heavier knits for colder months, is another way to pay homage to luxe French dressing.
