Mint Velvet Spring/summer 2017

Last week, inspiring women from various fields joined forces at the RHA Gallery, Dublin, for the launch of MINT VELVET’s spring / summer 2017 collection. The exclusive dinner event unveiled the incoming collection, and introduced guests to MINT VELVET’S We Are Women campaign.

We Are Women is a celebration of women and their many successes. MINT VELVET has developed a series of features on inspirational and pioneering ladies, all of whom are champions in their own chosen field. To date, We Are Women has seen the brand collaborate with Irish chef, Clodagh McKenna, All Saints singer, Melanie Blatt, and actress, Anna Friel. The guest of honour at the launch was Daniella Moyles, who will work with the brand on the Irish leg of campaign this year.

This season MINT VELVET combines sporty and relaxed styling, with feminine pieces, in a new colour palette of dusted desert tones, blue hues and pops of bright corals and pinks.

Pure white dressing makes crisp cotton and statement shirts the new must haves, and clean rib knits bring an ultra-modern feel. Stripes remain a hot trend; now bolder, cut out and placed as side stripes on sports pants.

The menswear trend continues into the new season, with gorgeous summer pinstripes. The wide trouser remains a key trend, with newer fuller silhouettes and tie waist trouser shapes emerging. Juxtaposed, the romantic trend is interpreted through beautiful vintage inspired and pretty florals, in softly ruffled dresses and camis, delicate lace fabrics and trims and crochet knits, worn back with soft tailored separates. Embroidery also makes a return in pretty embroidered shirts and shell tops.

MINT VELVET continues the military trend with easy khaki jackets and cargos worn with subtle metallics, pretty laces and softly blurred animal prints. And, an emphasis remains on the sleeve with tie details, poetic fuller shapes, rouleau buttoning and open shoulders.
