Microsoft & Minnie At Bloggerconf 2016

Last Saturday, Ireland’s top bloggers and online influencers joined at The Marker Dublin for the second annual BLOGGERCONF. The event is designed to celebrate and recognise the increasing importance and role of bloggers and digital influencers in Ireland, and bring them together with Irish brand experts to address the changing world of technology and the digital era.

Microsoft Ireland were on board for the day with an engaging stand offering guests the chance to have a digital caricature sketched via Surface Pro 4 devices and also treated guests to a captivating speaker on the day with Sinead Burke of Minnie Melange taking to the stage to discuss how technology gave her a voice.

Speaking on the day Sinead said “Technology has helped to democratise the world. No longer are money or political influence the sole indicators for power or the conduit to having an opinion. In 2016, phones, laptops and devices with internet access deconstruct those systemic power boundaries and allow untraditional voices to be heard. It is because of this concept that I would describe myself as ‘successful’, which is a subjective term at best. However, my aspiration for working with technology to amplify my voice is not to reinforce those traditional power relationships, but instead to use it as tool to learn from and to educate. One of the reasons why I admire Microsoft as a brand, and why I am delighted to be working with them today is because of their investment in education, their culture of sharing and their consciousness of how important new ideas and innovation is. I try to engage with technology so that I can share my experiences, which are somewhat unique, but even more importantly, so that I can listen to and learn from the voices that aren’t heard in traditional media so that I can go about my everyday life, more informed and more respectful to others.”

Other star speakers at the event included businesswoman Marissa Carter; editor of Stellar Magazine and founder of beaut.ie, Kirstie Mc Dermott; Head of Daytime TV at TV3, Debbie O’Donnell; and David and Stephen Flynn from The Happy Pear.
