The Rehab Waterways Adventure, in Association
with Bord na Móna, Sets Sail

On Saturday, 21st August 2010, the Rehab Waterways Adventure will officially launch from Sallins, Co Kildare, proudly supported by Bord na Móna. The adventure will see the heritage boat, the Neuwe Zorgen, set sail for two weeks visiting towns and villages throughout the Midlands on an awareness-raising and fundraising adventure for Rehab. Each stop on the Rehab Waterways Adventure in Association with Bord na Móna will be marked by a public event with entertainment for all the family. The adventure ends on Saturday, 4th September, when the three-person crew of Eric Kemp, Michael Kemp and Michael Ward, docks the boat at Carrick-on-Shannon for one final event.

The highlight of the Rehab Waterways Adventure will take place on Sunday 29th August, when the Neuwe Zorgen will enter the Lough Boora Parklands, a beautiful landscape in Co. Offaly. Located a little over an hour’s drive from Dublin (just off the N52 Tullamore to Birr Road), the parklands are owned by Bord na Móna and demonstrate its commitment to long-term environmental concerns, bio-diversity and its “contract with nature” philosophy. Lough Boora consists of a magnificent collection of natural and man-made lakes, along with 50km of walkways and pastureland that provide a new habitat for flora and fauna. A range of activities will take place on the day to celebrate the adventure with guided walking trails, face painting, balloon modelling, live music, along with other family entertainment and attractions on site on the day.

This week we’re celebrating the launch of the slimmest Golden Pages ever, the new iPhone application from Golden Pages. To mark the launch, we teamed up with Krooked Type, who used stock photography and took thousands of pictures to make this video. We also worked with artist Maser, who created a bespoke canvas for the launch. Let us know what you think.

The app is steadily climbing the application download charts, reaching No.1 in the Utilities category of the free app download charts. The application allows users to access goldenpages.ie to search for restaurants, bars, hotels and much more. As well as giving detailed information on your search, such as the business address, phone number, email address and website, this application also includes a GPS navigation feature. With access to approximately 100,000 businesses at the touch of an iPhone screen, this app is the ultimate in convenience and is completely free to download here

Hot Cross Mum

Hot Cross Mum
The bloggings of a mother who gave up ‘the corporate world’ to become a full-time mother. Although she talks about not having enough spare time and the mayhem of taking young children on holiday, she is clearly a devoted mother and adores her children.

Being a freelance writer (with a book desperate to be published apparently..!) Hot Cross Mum is able to express her thoughts and views in a light-hearted way, with the site providing information for fellow-mums out there. For example, there are a selection of children’s book reviews on the blog as well as advice on what to and what not to take when holidaying with small boys – things to keep them entertained as well as things for you. Hot Cross Mum is a cheery, happy insight into the hectic, yet amazing, world of motherhood.

White Rabbit

White Rabbit NI is the elusive author of the hilarious blog with the same name. After viewing the combination of pictures and videos and the comments that accompany them, it’s not easy to get back to what you were doing before you logged on!

A native Northern Ireland resident, amateur photographer and self-confessed clumsy person (she* once got third degree burns making Rice Krispie cakes!) White Rabbit gathers various amusing video clips, pictures and news stories from the internet and adds her own personal spin to them. Her rant on being a ‘healthy size’ is particularly amusing, despite it discussing a fairly serious issue. Winner of the 2010 ‘Best Humour Blog’ at this year’s International Blog Awards, this blog is definitely worth checking out!!
