Idi Design Awards

Designers Lyndsey Bryce and Christopher Murphy of Dolmen won the Grand Prix at the prestigious IDI Design Awards, which took place on Thursday, 20th November in the Marker Hotel, Dublin. A high-tech calving alert sensor, which sends farmers a text message when their cows are about to give birth, Dolmen’s winning device uses gesture recognition technology to monitor movement and sends an SMS to the farmer when their cow is in labour.

Second place was awarded to Kevin Doherty and Ronan Murphy of Gazel Design for their Gazel Clothes Hanger and third place went to the new playroom at Crumlin Children’s Hospital, designed by Plus Architecture.

Now in its 16th year, the IDI Design Awards welcomed over 300 entries this year, representing the best of Irish design. Prizes were awarded across nine categories from interior and exhibition design and visual communications to digital design and fashion and textile design. All winners were presented with a trophy and certificate on the night.
