The House Of Peroni Presents: La Sagra

Earlier this month, The House of Peroni Presents: La Sagra popped up in Meeting House Square in Dublin 2 offering a unique Dublin take on an authentic Italian autumnal food festival. Foodie fans flocked to Peroni’s traditional Italian sagra food and dining event, which celebrated some of the best Irish food producers that create great Italian food in Ireland.

Peroni’s Master of Taste, Francesco Mazzei, in collaboration with 2015 San Pellegrino Young Chef of the Year, Mark Moriarty, developed an Italian tailor-made autumnal feast for 60 invited guests on the opening night. Dinner guests included Xpose presenter, Cassie Stokes, and stylist, Irene O’Brien, as well as some of Ireland’s top bloggers, Louise Cooney, Lauren Arthurs, Niamh O’Sullivan and Lawson Mpame.

Guests were welcomed with a Peroni Ambra, the brew masters’ latest innovation inspired by the classic Italian aperitivo, which paired perfectly with the appetisers; saffron and veal shank arancini, and cheese puffs made with Grana Padano and homemade sun-dried tomato pesto. Then guests embarked on a four course bespoke menu created by both chefs, which used ingredients from La Sagra’s collaborators; The Wooden Pig and Toons Bridge Dairy. The meal was accompanied by Peroni Nastro Azzurro drinks including Federico Riezzo’s recently created Peroni La Sagra, which combines the crisp and refreshing taste of Peroni Nastro Azzurro with local ingredients such as local blackberry jam, honey and Italian red wine to give a warm autumnal feel.

Simultaneously in the hub of the sagra, guests delighted in the autumnal cicchetti bites, also created by both chefs. They also had the chance to meet the producers, listen to their story and buy samples of their produce to take away. No Italian sagra would be complete without pizza, and Dublin Pizza Company were on hand serving up its tasty Neapolitan favourites.
