Hennessy Gold Cup 2015

On Sunday, this year’s Hennessy Best Dressed Lady attracted hundreds of ladies in hopes of impressing the judges with their winter racing fare. On the day, Helen Murphy from Douglas, Co. Cork beat a contingent of Ireland’s most stylish ladies and ultimately walked away with the sought after title and prize, which included an exclusive Philip Treacy hat from his autumn / winter 2014 collection, the only one of its kind available in Ireland, a €3,000 Design Centre voucher, home to the best of Irish and international designers, along with a bottle of Hennessy Fine de Cognac. Announced in front of a crowd gathered around Leopardstown’s parade ring, Helen was named as the winner by judges, Caroline Sleiman from Moët Hennessy and Ashling Kilduff, owner of Design Centre.

The event also saw 19-time British Champion National Hunt jockey, AP McCoy, claim the 25th running of the Hennessy Gold Cup at Leopardstown – the first ever success for McCoy in the Grade 1 contest. The 4-1 shot, owned by JP McManus and trained by John Kiely, stayed on strongly under a power-packed McCoy to beat Foxrock by three-quarters-of-a-length, with last year’s Hennessy Gold Cup winner Lord Windermere eight lengths behind in third place.

2015 marks a particularly special year for Hennessy as it celebrates its 250th anniversary globally. The Hennessy Gold Cup is one of a number of events taking place across the year to mark the brand’s milestone.
