Hello December

November has seen a focus on wellness for us. We have had external presentations from a nutritionist and a mindfulness coach.

Alva O’Sullivan from OSC Consulting brought us through a presentation on ‘Maximizing Performance.’ Her focus is to reduce the amount of added sugar in our diet, to have healthy mid-morning and mid-afternoon snacks and to go light on the carbs for evening meals. This helps to stabilise blood sugar during the day. She cites Michael Pollan’s mantra to ‘Eat food, not too much. Mostly plants.’ Processed food is the root of weight gain in our 21st century society, whole foods, with lots of fruit and vegetables is the sensible approach to heathy eating, that she advocates.

Mari Kennedy brought us through a workshop on mindfulness, with the focus on not living so much in the mind, but being aware of our bodies.

We feel well set up for December now, when we hopefully will make some mindful choices about festive partying and indulgent eating!
