Helen Cody Aw16 Couture Collection

Helen Cody’s A/W 2016 couture collection highlights Helen’s talent for feminine design and intricate detailing. The focuses and inspiration behind this season is centred closely on the designer’s own archive, with references taken from artist Edward Burne-Jones; an artist highly influenced by the Pre-Raphaelites.

The colour palette seen throughout the collection includes tones of rich damson, plum, deep Bordeaux and berry. Helen draws on her knowledge, experience and creativity by combining these tones with subtle layering of tulles over sheers, producing translucent pieces that appear lighter than air. Helen’s signature embellishment and embroidery have a strong scattering across the stories in the new couture collection. Digital prints, of her own paintings on chiffon, create show stopping dresses that waft and billow while moving.

Lace, a fabric that is applied to many of Helen Cody’s designs, is used in varying styles throughout the collection including Calais, Chantilly and Guipure. From this lace, Helen has created biker jackets and layered two pieces, which can be worn together or separately. For the first time, Helen has also introduced knits in pure alpaca and 100% merino, some embellished with feathers and crystals.
