Friday Round Up

Great week for Ireland: After welcoming Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth last week, Barack and Michelle Obama received a very Irish welcome when they arrived on Monday. Credit goes to Henry Healy (aka Henry the Eight) who was instrumental in getting Obama to visit Ireland and was the first to greet him when he arrived in Monegall.

Congratulations to Diarmuid Gavin for winning gold at the Chelsea Garden Show for his Garden in the Sky.

On the back of the success of the Royal visit last week it was confirmed this week that the Olympic Torch will arrive in Northern Ireland on the 3rd of June and will travel to Dublin by the 5th. It is understood that Wayne McCullough and Michael Carruth will play a part in the symbolic cross border trip.

Supposedly we’re set to have the hottest summer since 1976, only time will tell…

Congrats to Leinster for winning the Sexton Heineken Cup last weekend in the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff – what a comeback! Munster now stands in Leinster’s way of winning the double in the Magners League final this weekend in Thomand Park.

Another big game this weekend as Manchester United take on Barcelona in Wembley Stadium tomorrow in the Champions League final. It’s set to be a cracker of a game and tickets are like gold dust.

30th anniversary of Slane this weekend when Kings of Leon take centre stage – the boys have been in town since midweek and have been enjoying a few pints of the black stuff. Enjoy if you’re going.
