#fivefavourties

It’s the weekend, and for some of us, that means Friday drinks after work.

Here’s five of our favourite places from across the country, in no particular order.

  1. The Mutton Lane in Cork

Tucked down a tiny alley off Patrick’s Street that leads straight into the English Market, The Mutton Lane is full of candles, fairy lights, characters and great pints! Sit snugly down the back, join the craic at the bar or perch on the beer kegs outside with your tipple of choice.

  1. The Long Hall in Dublin

Licensed since 1766, this Victorian gem is oozing with charm. If you’re lucky enough to get the window seat then hours of people watching awaits

  1. The Famous Sinking Pub in Kildare

If North West Kildare is your hood, then head to one of the last proper rural Irish pubs, Roche’s. The wobbly floors, tilted bar, and sloping interiors will have you feeling tipsy even after a Club Orange and packet of Tayto.

  1. Tigh Neachtain in Galway

With daily trad music, 130 whiskey’s to choose from, drinks from all over the world, countless characters and 99% chance of a lock-in, then head to Tigh Neachtain in Galway.

  1. Grogan’s in Dublin

We couldn’t put this list together without including Dublin’s famous pub, Grogan’s. A great pint and delicious ham and cheese toastie, with art on the walls and the opportunity to chat with strangers, sit outside and watch the world go by or choose a seat by the bar if you can get one.
