Fashionable Bright Lights Take To The City At Dublin Fashion 2017

On, Friday, 22nd September 2017 the leading lights of Dublin’s fashion set joined DublinTown in The Round Room at The Mansion House to celebrate Dublin Fashion 2017: The Collective. The event officially launched the new A/W fashion season by showcasing the latest trends, styles and must-buys from high-street favourites, hidden gems from Dublin’s creative quarter, and high-end retailers from across Dublin city centre.

Upon arrival to the beautiful setting of The Round Room at the Mansion House Dublin, guests were treated to delicious cocktails, aptly titled ‘Dublin Fashion Fizz’ and ‘Gin & Juice’, created by drink sponsor, Mór Irish Gin. Host for the evening, Xposé presenter, Glenda Gilson, welcomed the excited crowd and started the show off in style by introducing the highly anticipated Young Designer of the Year fashion show, where 12 of Ireland’s budding fashion designers showcased their unique designs for all to see. Last year’s winner, JJ Donnelly, passed on the coveted title to this year’s winner Naomi Ajetunmobi of The Grafton Academy of Design. On winning the competition Naomi said ‘I’m so happy! I loved creating my design and am so delighted that the judges liked it too!’

The show continued with the best in Dublin fashion from the high-street, with separate scenes dedicated to menswear, the Creative Quarter and high-end fashion. This year’s show pulled out all the stops with entertainment from Dublin band, Red Empire, the Trinity College String Quartet and aerial performance artists, Aerial Cirque. Dylan Bradshaw, of Dylan Bradshaw Salon, produced the hair looks for the event using the Dyson Supersonic hairdryer and shared his inspiration and a how-to on recreating the look at home. Model makeup was completed by leading makeup artists from Benefit.

CEO of DublinTown, Richard Guiney, was in fashionable company with Xposé series producer, Debbie O’Donnell, models Alannah Beirne and Brittany Mason, stylist Cathy O’Connor and illustrator Conor Merriman, all of whom dressed to impress to watch the show, which was produced by Jules Fallon of 1st Option.

Clyde Carroll, Director of Marketing & Communications for DublinTown, said: “We decided to change things up this year for Dublin Fashion Festival, using the new A/W style season as inspiration to showcase all of the amazing fashion that the city has to offer. We are lucky that Dublin City has so much to offer to shoppers and it’s great to have a night that celebrates them and showcases just how stylish a city Dublin is.”
