Dublintown’s Food And Drink Festival

The first DublinTown Food and Drink Festival kicks off today Monday, 15th October, for a week until Sunday, 21st October, 2018. A festival dedicated to the city’s excellent food and drink offering, the DublinTown Food and Drink Festival will see DublinTown’s network of restaurants, bars, cafes and coffee shops, hotels and retailers host various masterclasses, tastings and experiences over the seven days. EVENTS

Let Rachel Allen cook you dinner in a church on Monday, 15th October! Rachel will serve up a three course meal, with wine and tea and coffee, in the unique surroundings of The Church Bar and Restaurant on the junction of Jervis Street and Mary Street. Tickets are priced at €50 per person. 

Get up close to the action at Pichet, dine at the chef’s table, and meet chef Anna Haugh, made famous by the US TV show ‘Hell’s Kitchen’, on Sunday, 21st October in Pichet, 14 – 15 Trinity Street, Dublin 2. The event starts at 5pm, is priced at €65 per person and includes a delicious seasonal six course tasting menu plus a cocktail on arrival.

Join a food trail each evening of the festival, as SOLE Seafood and Grill on South William Street, and Fire Restaurant on Dawson Street, come together to showcase the best Irish produce from the sea and the land. Enjoy Irish oysters in SOLE, before tucking into Dexter sirloin in FIRE. Tickets are limited to 12 people per time slot, and cost €49.50 per person.

MASTERCLASSES

During the DublinTown Food and Drink Festival, why not learn from the city’s experts and attend a masterclasses? There’s something to whet every appetite, from food and cooking, to coffee and cocktails including:

  • Learn how to make pizza like momma, and cocktails like your favourite Italian bartender at NoLIta
  • Join TV chef, Kwangi Chan, as he teaches you how to cook some of the best Hong Kong dishes at Cooks Academy
  • Be one of the first to try the new cocktail menu at Fade Street Social, and let the mixologists take you on a nostalgic stroll through childhood, as you experience the infusion of old school sweets into modern cocktails
  • Pop into Lillie’s Bordello and enjoy a gin journey of Ireland flight, which includes one gin from each province paired with a delicious chocolate
  • Learn how to brew coffee like a professional at the newly refurbished, Bewley’s Café on Grafton Street, and do latte like a king with the five times Irish Latte Art Champion of Ireland, Elvis, who will demonstrate his talent of latte art, giving insider techniques to get you pouring like a pro
  • Join the Vice Coffee team and enjoy the largest selection of Irish roasted coffees ever tasted together in one room – an event not to be missed for any coffee fan!

FOOD EXPERIENCES

Pop along to Ava McKee’s brunch in Platform 61 on Sunday, 21st October, and help her raise money for Down Syndrome Ireland’s Employ Ability Programme. Tickets will cost €30 and includes a two course brunch and a welcome cocktail on arrival. All proceeds will be donated to Down Syndrome Ireland!

Eat like a Parisian with a late night supper in The Green Hen, and taste a wonderful combination of Irish cheese and French tapas, washed down by a delicious French wine, before finishing with a sweet dessert board and cocktail. There is space for only 20 people for this limited event.

Learn about the unique Asian ingredients stocked at the Oriental Emporium and discover all the tasty sauces, spices, noodles, dim sum, seafood and more with this guided walking tour. The tour also includes a mochi-making demonstration (the sticky rice-flour cake with a sweet filling that’s delicious!). The tour takes place on Sunday, 21st October, at 3pm.

The Asia Market will host an event dedicated to sake tasting on Friday, 19th October. Taste the full range of sakes from Japan, from sparking and plum to yuzu and many more.

FAMILY EXPERIENCES

The DublinTown Food and Drink Festival is for everyone to enjoy, and there are lots of family focused experiences taking place in the city for little chefs and cooks to enjoy including:

  • A Baketacular at Cooks Academy, where kids and their grownups can learn to cook muffins and cookies
  • An ice cream indulgence at Fade Street Social, where little ones can learn all about soft serve ice cream (with some tasting too!)
  • A pasta masterclass at La Cucina, where budding chefs will learn to cook pasta like the Romans
  • Carve your pumpkins at Asia Market, where kids and adults can show off their creative side before taking home their ownjack-o’-lanterns

The DublinTown Food and Drink Festival is a seven-day culinary celebration, reflecting the depth of experiences, cuisines, and occasions the capital has to offer, running from Monday 15th until Sunday, 21st October, 2018. Over 60 bars, cafes, restaurants and hotels are taking part in this inaugural DublinTown Food and Drink Festival, which has been put together by the DublinTown Hospitality Committee; a group of business owners and general managers within the bar, restaurant, café and hotel industry in the DublinTown District.
