Disrupt: Idi Design Awards 2015

The Institute of Designers in Ireland is calling on designers from all disciplines to prepare their entries for the 17th annual IDI Design Awards which will take place in Dublin on Thursday, 26th November. With a formidable jury lined up this year that includes esteemed Amsterdam-based designers, The Stone Twins, and editor-in-chief of Architonic, Simon Keane-Cowell, this year’s awards will be centred on the theme, DISRUPT.

The judging panel is completed by fashion designer, Sonya Lennon, Director of Brown Bag Films, Damien O’Connor, Creative Director of digital agency Radical, David Howlett, James Hubbard of the Centre for Excellence in Universal Design, Programme Director of Irish Design 2015, Alex Milton, Kathryn Wilson of Slater Design and Kim MacKenzie-Doyle of designCORE.

Prizes will be awarded for outstanding work in all design disciplines, with categories including Making Spaces (interior architecture and special design), Moving Image (motion design), Visual Communication (graphic design), Making Things (product design) and Clothing and Covering (fashion, accessories and textiles).

A special Lifetime Achievement Award will be presented to the estate of Eileen Gray, one of the most influential designers and architects of the twentieth century. Jennifer Goff, Curator of the Eileen Gray Collection at the National Museum of Ireland, will present an overview of Gray’s work at the awards.

Entries open on Monday, 31st August and all chosen finalists will have their work exhibited ahead of the awards ceremony in November. For further information, visit idi-design.com.
