The Burren Perfumery Launches New Fragrance Collection

The new collection arrives in style as The Burren Perfumery teams up with Irish botanical artist, Cliona Doyle, to create luxurious custom made packaging. The landscape influenced fragrances are now available in Avoca stores.

Inspired by the iconic limestone Burren landscape and its unique flora, the Perfumery expertly crafts small batch perfumes and cosmetics. Created on-site and by hand, the new fragrance collection incorporates six scent families – Lost Garden, Grassland, Woodland, Herb Garden, Atlantic Coast, and Irish Limestone. These fragrant scent families will be available in perfumes, soaps, and certified organic cosmetics.

Summer Harvest is the scent of the season, with the 50ml Eau de Parfum (RRP €42) and 200ml Body Lotion (RRP €26) being the summer’s bestseller. These are perfectly complemented by additional products from the organic face and body care range, such as the Lost Garden Wild Rose Day Cream and the Wild Rose Facial Serum.

The Burren Perfumery saw a revamp in 2001, with new owner Sadie Chowen expanding and modernising its perfume range, adding organic cosmetics, cold-process soaps, candles, herbal teas and essential oils to its offering over the years. Sadie runs the company alongside her husband Ralph, and their team of 30 local staff. A visit to The Burren Perfumery grounds is not complete without a trip to the rose-covered Tea Rooms, the Soap Room, the Blending Rooms and Herb Gardens, and daily tours and talks are organised in high season.

In the Perfumery workshops, Sadie, Rose, and Cate mix and blend the perfumes, creams, balms, and soaps. The batch sizes of 30 to 50 units ensure ingredients are used at their freshest, and products do not require long lasting preservatives that are common in mass manufactured cosmetics.  Manufacturing by hand in Clare is a core part of the Perfumery’s ethos to create and maintain rural employment, use sustainable ingredients and build a business that has long term benefits for the community, environment and customers alike.
