Following the success of Nokia’s first Developer Day earlier this year, a second Ovi Developer Day will take place tomorrow, Wednesday, 1st September, 2010 in the Arrol Suite at the Guinness Storehouse, St. James Gate from 4.00pm. The primary theme of this event will be “App Development Made Easy”, with presentations from Nokia’s technical consultant Riku Salminen, who will showcase different ways to develop for the Ovi store. The event will also cover developer support and overviews of the market, alongside discussions with Forum Nokia representative Greg Merten. QT and Symbian 3 development will also be a key focus of the event, as well as discussions around how Irish businesses have embraced the concept of applications. This is highlighted by statistics that show Ireland’s increased usage of the Ovi Store and the reach Nokia devices have in the market – the Ovi Store has on average more than 1.7million downloads per day, with users on average downloading eight content items. In terms of handsets, there will be a particular focus on the N8, Nokia’s next major handset release. For further information on Nokia Ovi log onto www.ovi.com.

Tomorrow, 16th July 2010 the Guinness Storehouse will open its doors to a high profile TV fashion show and event in aid of the Baby Max Wings of Love Fund. The event is being filmed for a Dublin-based episode of Norway’s Next Top Model TV show, which follows the same format as America’s Next Top Model. The ten contestants will take part in a closed fashion catwalk task during the day judged by a surprise New York Celebrity Stylist and designer, Jennifer Rothwell. The winner of this will take to the catwalk that night with some of Ireland’s top models at the charity fashion show, amongst them Sarah Morrissey, Sarah Mc Govern, Ruth Griffin, Yomiko Chen, Chloe Arnold, Martha Christie and Karen Fitzpatrick.
Stylist Cathy O’ Connor, celebrity hairstylist Dylan Bradshaw and some of Ireland’s top designers have come on board to support this worthy cause, including Paul Costello, Jennifer Rothwell, Orla Kiely, Mary Grant, Chesneau Luxury Bags, Fitzpatrick’s Shoes and Rebeka Kahn Artwear. Lisa Fitzpatrick will MC the evening with Máire Ní Chuinneagáin and Anne Morgan co-ordinating everything on the night. Guests will also be treated to entertainment from Paddy Casey, ‘Ishna’ and Frank Jez amongst others.
