We attended an agency day for our client Nokia recently. They get their marketing agencies around a table from time to time to thrash out strategy going forward. Here are some insights from the session:
• There is a very exciting range of new Nokia handsets coming down the line – folding phones and sliders are strongly represented in response to market demand, colour is back in a big way, and many entry level phones will have five mega pixel cameras. The one charger fits all phone is coming down the tracks and operator subsidy to buy handsets is disappearing. Touchscreen is a big focus.

A trip to Chicago last week was a welcome break from Irish negativity. Americans are chirpier, more upbeat and all about the positive.
It really lifts your mood when you are repeatedly told to have a great day and given excellent customer service. The exchange rate makes it all very affordable and there is value everywhere – Target is a particular favourite for over the top Hallowe’en bits and low cost designer collaborations (on our visit a great collection from Anna Sui).

We attended an interesting talk in the Science Gallery last week about the exciting and innovative advertising opportunities around AdLabels. Hosted by the Irish Times, the event’s guest speaker was Frank Azevedo, who discussed the benefits of AdLabels for print advertising in Ireland.

Off The Rails – The Total Experience runs from Friday, 13th to Sunday, 15th November at the RDS and is presented by Brendan Courtney and Sonya Lennon. Now in its tenth year, Off The Rails, the RTÉ television series, has established itself as the leading authority on fashion and style in Ireland. …Sunshine All Weekend in Dublin!
What a fantastic weekend in Dublin – Phoenix Park was definitely used to the max with the excellent SeptemberFest at Farmleigh (artisan beer and food), KiteFest, the SARI Soccer Fest, big crowds at the zoo, Polo and preparations for the ColdPlay concert tonight. Driving out of the park we stumbled upon the Liffey Swim – a true Dublin institution and for once taking place in the sunshine.
