- Aer Arann has gone into examinership this week

Tomorrow, 16th July 2010 the Guinness Storehouse will open its doors to a high profile TV fashion show and event in aid of the Baby Max Wings of Love Fund. The event is being filmed for a Dublin-based episode of Norway’s Next Top Model TV show, which follows the same format as America’s Next Top Model. The ten contestants will take part in a closed fashion catwalk task during the day judged by a surprise New York Celebrity Stylist and designer, Jennifer Rothwell. The winner of this will take to the catwalk that night with some of Ireland’s top models at the charity fashion show, amongst them Sarah Morrissey, Sarah Mc Govern, Ruth Griffin, Yomiko Chen, Chloe Arnold, Martha Christie and Karen Fitzpatrick.

Lisa Fitzpatrick will MC the evening with Máire Ní Chuinneagáin and Anne Morgan co-ordinating everything on the night. We attended the Simply Zesty Winter Camp on Wednesday. It kicked off with a presentation by Damian Ryan. He talked about social media campaigns like the very successful Art of the Trench for Burberry, it has over 700,000 fans on Facebook greatly helped by a collaboration with The Sartorialist. The BBC has recently appointed a social media editor driven by the trend towards online engagement while watching TV with laptop on your knees. Games are now bigger than movies. Branded content or advertiser funded programming is growing – Bank of Ireland and RTE’s Dragon’s Den.

Nialler 9 IWA09

We attended the Irish Web Awards on Saturday night. We were finalists in the Best Social Media Campaign for our online work for the Nokia Young Fashion Designer Award. We lost out to Count Me Out, just one of some very stiff competition. It was a fantastic night and a whos who of the Irish weberati. For a full list of winners please go here

The Best Music Site award went to Nialler9, who if the round of applause in the room was anything to go by, also got the popular vote. He has won this award practically every year since the IWAs launched. That’s why we are making it our Blog of the Week. Enjoy
